Get ready, Smash Fans, because two new characters and one newcomer was just announced this past Monday: Lucina and Robin from Fire Emblem: Awakening, and series veteran Captain Falcon.
The three characters were unveiled to gamers in a three-minute video, highlighting each character (more specifically, Robin and Lucina)’s battle styles. Lucina is a more straightforward swordswoman, not unlike the other Fire Emblem characters, while Robin can switch between two different swords and spell tomes, allowing for two separate arsenals of attacks. Captain Falcon, however, plays much like he did in previous games, including his ever-famous Falcon Punch and, according to screenshots, his Final Smash.
Fan favorite Chrom was featured in the video as well, but not as a playable character, rather as a part of Robin’s Final Smash.
Robin was the player character in Fire Emblem: Awakening, and could be chosen to be either gender. This trait has been carried over to Smash, where, like the Wii Fit Trainer and Animal Crossing Villager, Robin will be playable as either a male or a female.
Lucina, Robin, and Captain Falcon set the playable character mark to a whopping 35, with still time before the October 3 release date for the 3DS version, and a Holiday launch for the Wii U version.
