STAR COMMAND: GALAXIES
Essentially Mass Effect meets FTL, with most of the focus on survival, and keeping your existing crew alive rather than simply replacing them. Think FTL if you actually could connect with the characters on your ship.
OH GOD WHY IS THE WHITE SQUARE STARTING TO SPIN AND I NEED TO CHARGE MY EXTRA LIFE OH GOD THIS IS THE END OH GOD OOH I like the music in this new level OH FUCK YOU I’M DEAD AGAIN.
Available now on iOS, Android coming soon.
The phrases “Economy Simulator” and “Feudal Capitalism Simulator” spring to mind. Charming game.
Theatre-based Murder Mystery Swamp Noire released in 3 acts. If any of these words sparks your interest, get this game. Seriously.
Platformer. Run away from the darkness. If you get caught, you lose – for the whole playthrough – one of the members of your party, making the rest of the level significantly harder and forcing you to take different paths. Absolutely adorable.
Fruit Ninja with flames and living fire. More of a strategy game than “how fast can I swat at things”, unlike Fruit Ninja. Very fun, without microtransactions!
Kind of like Broforce. Quite fast, lots of guns, and ridiculous. I love it.
Snowboard-’em-up. Run away from the giant volcano and do tricks. Simple really.
The Highwayman (the old poem) meets Solitare. It’s a strange combination, but it works.
Platformer. To jump on the green platforms, be playing the A-side of the mixtape. To jump on the Orange platforms, be playing the B-side of the mixtape. Flipping the mix flips the entire level, including the controls. Good luck. You’ll need it.
THEO AND LIZZY
A story of love, predudice, and running on ceilings. Switch the gravity to solve the puzzles. Mess up and you go back a room. Sometimes further if you keep doing so. Also, there’s a speed settting. The faster the speed, the more points you get, but the harder the game is. But it’s for the sake of love!
NOT GTA V and NOT COD
NOT GTA V, and I’m stealing a review here, is literally “snake on LSD”. You’ll have to trust me on this one. NOT COD is like COD but not. It’s brilliant. And as far as I remember, all the profits go to charity. So yay!
The PC port of a previously reviewed game. Go read Sian’s brief preview last year!
