Nintendo’s ongoing efforts to make the real world as cute as their games have continued, with the announcement that Build-A-Bear Workshop patrons will be able to take home their own custom Pikachu, starting in 2016. The move comes as part of Pokémon’s 20th anniversary celebrations coming up next year.
Monika Salazar, The Pokémon Company’s director of licensing, said: “Pokémon and Build-A-Bear Workshop both create memorable experiences for fans of all ages,
“We are delighted to partner with a brand like Build-A-Bear Workshop that represents fun and friendship.”
Buyers in store will receive a “unique Build-A-Bear Workshop-branded Pokémon TCG card” with their Pikachu, while online shoppers will be treated to a Poké Ball hoodie and a Charizard costume. Here’s hoping it comes with adorable voice clips.
There’s no further information on pricing or availability yet – given The Pokémon Company’s track record, there’s every chance it might be a time-limited exclusive. Get your orders in early!
