Slitherine Announce New 4X Strategy Game Set in the 40K Universe

Slitherine and Games Workshop have teamed up once again in order to offer gamers a fresh new approach to the popular Warhammer 40,000 universe – a planetary 4X strategy extravaganza.

Titled Warhammer 40,000: Gladius, this brand-new 4X strategy game will combine the dark, gothic rudiments of the far future science-fantasy setting with classic 4X gameplay elements in order to bring to life the 40K universe in a way it never has been before.

Intrepid intergalactic commanders will be able to explore a plethora of exotic fantasy worlds hidden deep within the inky blackness of space as they seek to develop and expand their galactic empire and rule the war-torn cosmos of the far-flung future. Players can choose from a number of factions, including Space Marines, Astra Militarum (aka Imperial Guard), Orks and Necrons, each of whom have their own unique characteristics, abilities, and units, notably exclusive heroes and war machines.

Warhammer 40,000: Gladius will feature all of the classic elements that epitomise the 4X genre, including technological development, exploration of unknown worlds, the construction and development of your empire’s infrastructure, and, of course, the conquering of neighbouring powers via aggressive military expansion.

In addition to the singleplayer campaign, Warhammer 40,000: Gladius will also feature a real-time multiplayer system that lets players forge their own path to victory, all the while fighting against their opponents, time and the natural perils hidden deep within the game’s coding behaviours.

For those interested in finding out more about Warhammer 40,000: Gladius, the development team over at Slitherine will be hosting a livestream on their official Twitch channel on Friday December 1 at 7 pm GMT, giving players an exclusive first look at Warhammer 40,000: Gladius.
