In a surprising move, Ubisoft have today announced the release of a brand-new, experimental game for PC players in the form of Ode, an enchanting visual and musical adventure by none other than Ubisoft Reflections, the studio behind Grow Up, Grow Home, and, most recently, Atomega.
According to Ubisoft, Ode subverts the traditional videogame design framework, consigning such well-established features like tutorials and player hints to the digital trash pile. Instead of holding the player’s hand like an overprotective parent/authority figure, Ode instead allows players to explore the sensory worlds around them at their own pace, direction and curiosity.
In Ode, players travel through four distinct music gardens, collecting fallen stars as they go. The more stars they collect, the greater the intensity of the audio-visual experience.
Ode is available from today on Uplay for the price of £4.49.
