We all have our Unicorns: in the 90’s it was Duke Nukem Forever, and in the 80’s it was finding a working Atari 5200 controller. This generation, meanwhile, has been salivating at the prospect of a third installment in the Half-Life franchise, which has been in the works seemingly since 2008, tentatively leaked in 2013, but hasn’t been spoken of since then. Until now. According to a Twitch interview with former Valve employee and Counterstrike Co-Creator Minh “Gooseman” Le, both Half-Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 are currently in the works at Valve.
“I don’t think I can talk about that, to be honest,” Le said when initially asked on the subject, “But I think it’s kind of public knowledge, that people know that it is being worked on. And if I were to say that yeah, I’ve seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn’t be big news to be honest.
“But yeah, I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said they’re doing it, they’re working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I’d say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3.”
Mr. Le also had a few words to say about Left 4 Dead 3. According to this same interview, it’s also being worked on at Valve, and that it “looks great.”
“I was really excited when I saw that,” he said, “I was like ‘wow, this looks great’. Because I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, it was one of those games that really just changed the industry.”
While Le spoke about both games in the interview, Valve has not come forward and made any comment.
